Welcome to Cobra Running & Triathlon Club, founded in 1991 by a group of friends from Halesowen who enjoyed running, we now have over 100 members who age from 18 to 70.

Athletes of all abilities, are most welcome to train with Cobra.  We are happy for you to join us for a couple of weeks with no obligation to see if we suit your needs.  If you live in the surrounding areas or are just passing through, come and pay us a visit.

Cobra is affiliated to England Athletics and British Triathlon Federation

Cobra 10k Race 2019

Come and join us and be amongst the first to race on the new route over the Clent Hills.

Cobra Run 2 the Sun will be held on 19th May 2019 at 10.30am with the Fun Run starting at 10.00am

The hilly off road route will start at Sunfield Children’s Home and take in some spectacular scenic views of Worcestershire, Herefordshire and as far as the Welsh Mountains.

Each runner will receive a medal, there will be place prizes and category prizes.

A fun run of approximately 3km will also be held within the grounds of Sunfield Children’s Home

Refreshments and free parking will be available, please consider car sharing if possible.

Training Sessions

Our regular training sessions usually start and finish from the Halesowen Leisure Centre (HLC), Great Cornbow, Halesowen.

Monday 7-7.45pm Coached swim session 2 lanes
Tuesday 6.30-8pm Long run approx. 7 miles medium pace
Wednesday 7-8pm Run session approx  5 miles steady pace ideal for beginners or runners coming back from break
Wednesday 6.30-8pm Cycle session approx. 10 miles focus on short hills and sprints, summer only.
Thursday 7-8pm 5-6 miles hill and sprint session. In the summer months we meet on the car park on St Kenelms Pass in Clent
Saturday 11am-2pm Cycle session approx. 20 miles weather and season dependant
Sunday 9.00-10.30am Run session 6-8 miles steady pace. We sometimes meet at a different location on the last Sunday of the month, check for details.

NB: It is advisable to turn up 10-15 mins. prior to the training times listed as sessions start promptly.

Club members lead training and ensure that no one is left behind. Sessions last between 60 and 90 minutes (approx. 6-8 miles), though some members run further when training for marathons.

During the summer months training is usually off road.  Cobra offers a variety of training, including continuous running, interval running, speed training and hill training.
