Congratulations to all of those Cobra runners and guests who participated in today’s Christmas Cracker Race. Unfortunately the usual route through the woods had to be abandoned due to very poor ground conditions, however, the 5k road race which replaced it was a tough little run taking in Uffmore Lane, St Kenelm’s Pass, Fieldhouse Lane and St Kenelm’s Road, hilly at the start, undulating in the middle with a fast downhill finish.
Good running by guest runner Nathan Newton (Kris Newton’s son) saw him win the race on handicap, with Julian Hart coming in second and winning the Cobra Cracker Trophy in an actual time of 22.34. First Female home was Tracy King in 29.55. The fastest lap was achieved by Steve Cleary in 21.28 the fastest female being Sam’ Henderson in 28.48. There were some impressive times by many of our runners.
The great majority of runners entered into the Christmas spirit by dressing (and running) as Santas, Nicki Davies winning the best Santa prize. We were all grateful to Fran Orme, Sally Cockcroft for being time keepers; and Steve Fletcher and Fran, Chris Pearson and Jan, Nicki and Alan Davies for refreshments. Neil Hale did not start but provided support as a marshal at a critical point of the race route.
Thank you to all who participated and those who supported. Have a good Christmas and New Year and see you in 2013.
