Day out in the Lake District

One of our members is organising a run/walk in the Lake District on 7th July 2012, this is not a Cobra event so you will take part at your own risk, click here for more details or speak to Julian Hart at one of the training sessions.

It was suggested that maybe I should suggest a ‘kit list’ for this Lake District trip. I kind of assumed that anyone interested would have some idea of what to take, but, maybe not. So here goes:

Anyone interested should carry/wear with them on the run the following, as a minimum;

  • Suitable trail/fell shoes – terrain is rocky/muddy/grassy/steep etc etc
  • Full body and leg cover – waterproof/showerproof top, Ronhill leggings or similar
  • Hat and Gloves
  • Energy food
  • Drink

Weather in the Lake District is typically changeable, so, it may look fine when stood in the car park, but, 800m up on the summits it is usually quite different.

 Obviously, if people wish to bring more stuff then that’s fine, but just remember, the more you bring the more you have to carry. I will be carrying a small first aid kit, map, compass etc, but it would be good if we had one or two members with these essentials (assuming I do get some interest of course).
